The Selangor State Government witnessed the formalisation of a strategic collaboration between Sunway Medical Centre, Sunway City (SMC) and SELCARE, the appointed programme operator under Skim Rawatan Jantung Negeri Selangor. The occasion was graced by YB Jamaliah Jamaluddin, Selangor State Executive Councillor for Public Health and Environment. This partnership is set to enhance early diagnosis, screening and treatment for heart disease across the state, particularly for eligible individuals from vulnerable communities.

The signing of this memorandum of understanding (MoU) reinforces the commitment of both organisations to advance public health through early intervention and accessible cardiac care. SELCARE, the healthcare arm of the Selangor State Government and part of the SELGATE Group, has long been instrumental in delivering affordable and inclusive healthcare to underserved populations. In this collaboration, SELCARE will continue to bridge the gap between policy and medical services, facilitating access to high-quality care for communities who may face financial or logistical barriers.

Partnering with Sunway Medical Centre, Malaysia’s largest private quaternary hospital marks a significant milestone in ensuring the reach and impact of Skim Rawatan Jantung Negeri Selangor. By combining SELCARE’s deep grassroots engagement with SMC’s world-class expertise, the initiative promises to bring real change in the lives of Anak Selangor with services delivered at no cost or highly subsidised rates.

“Sunway Medical Centre has always been dedicated to providing the highest standard of patient care,” said Dr Seow Vei Ken, the Chief Executive Officer of Sunway Medical Centre, Sunway City. “We are proud of our 28 Centres of Excellence, including our renowned Heart, Lung & Vascular Centre, and our commitment to leveraging the latest medical technologies and expert healthcare professionals to serve our community. We have 13 cardiologists, covering both adult and paediatric care, and offer a comprehensive range of cardiology subspecialties. This partnership with Selcare reflects our ongoing commitment to enhancing healthcare accessibility and delivering high-quality care to underserved communities, in line with our CSR initiatives. We are excited to see the positive impact this programme will have on the lives of Anak Selangor especially those who need it most.”

“We are proud to partner with Sunway Medical Centre in making cardiac care more accessible to those who need it most,” said Dato’ Noor Hisham Mohd Ghouth, Selgate Group CEO. “This partnership highlights SELCARE’s enduring mission: to connect public health policy with private sector strength, ensuring that no one in Selangor is left behind when it comes to their heart health.”

Despite operating in similar sectors, both organisations remain committed to collaboration over competition  by prioritising the health and wellbeing of the people above all else. This initiative reflects a shared ethos: that public-private synergy can yield long-lasting benefits for the community and foster a healthier Selangor.

SELCARE Management, a key subsidiary of SELGATE Healthcare, currently administers flagship programmes such as Iltizam Selangor Sihat (ISS), Selangor Saring and Skim Rawatan Jantung Negeri Selangor collectively benefitting more than 600,000 individuals and households nationwide. Leveraging a network of over 2,000 clinics and 200 hospitals across the country, SELCARE ensures that healthcare remains accessible, affordable and people-first.

This initiative stands as a powerful example of how public-private collaborations can bridge critical healthcare gaps. By aligning state-backed welfare programmes with private sector excellence, this partnership sets a benchmark for future efforts in ensuring inclusive, sustainable healthcare access across Selangor.
